Heather Pesapane ~ Certified ISR Instructor

My name is Heather Pesapane and I am a Certified Infant Swim Resource
Instructor. I am married and a mother of three children. I was born and raised
in Southern California and I had relocated to the Bay Area in 2010. My
professional background began as a Preschool Teacher; I was a teacher for 7
years as my background was Child Development. As I began having children I moved
into Human Resources and worked with big corporations (Guitar Center, Spirent
and Amgen) in my HR Position with Amgen, I first learned about ISR. I first saw
the video of baby Miles falling and possessing the self rescue skills that
enabled him to put himself in a life saving float, I was completely amazed. I
was several months pregnant when I saw this video and my first instinct was to
make sure my child would learn this skill once they were physically capable.
Then my child was born and I returned to work. It seemed a sad coincidence that
with an infant at home I began having to work with families who had a young
child that passed away from drowning. It was incredibly heartbreaking to hear
something so tragic. It was at this point that I knew I would not be satisfied
with just my newborn learning self-rescue skills, it was evident that I now
wanted to become an instructor and be able to help prevent these tragic
accidents from occurring. Having a background in Child Development and being a
preschool teacher it was a perfect fit. With the support of family and friends I
went through the extensive training and education and became certified and I can
honestly say I made the best choice and could not have picked a career that I
feel more passionate about and have it be as rewarding at the same time. The
ISR motto is “not one more child drowns” I want to do everything in my power to
promote that.
